Music producer, Appietus has added his voice to the ongoing conversation about identifying a genre of music for the country.
In a post sited on social media, the multiple award winning producer asserted that we can never claim foreign genres such American drill, Hip-hop, Nigerian Afro pop, Jamaican Dancehall and Reggae because the the International community will never recognize our works as original.
Further in the post he asserted that Hip-hop, reggae is as old as hilife yet they keep modifying it to look attractive.
The conversation relating to an identity of genre from Ghana has become a topic in the airwaves.
Recently, dancehall giant, Shatta Wale addressed the nation with his “State of the industry address” after his trip from the United States of America.
In his address, he proposed to all artists and stakeholders to identify one genre of music and promote it to the world at large.
The address brought out a lot of debates of which entertainment journalist, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, voiced out saying the address made the “Ayoo” hitmaker was a fallacy and further said the artiste was inconsistent and confused.
